Irritec Self-Regulating Dripper

The self-regulating drippers are devices used in drip irrigation to distribute water evenly to plants, regardless of pressure variations in the irrigation network.

In the case of irrigation lines with more than 50 drippers, it becomes essential to use self-regulating drippers; the membranes will therefore be less open at the beginning of the line and more and more open at the end of the line in order to guarantee a uniform water flow from the beginning to the end of the line.

If the terrain has uneven ground, even if the quantity of drippers is smaller, it will then also be necessary to use self-regulated drippers in order to guarantee an equivalent flow rate for each dripper.

Here is how they work in detail :

Operating principle

Self-regulating drippers incorporate a silicone membrane or other flexible material that adapts to the water pressure. This membrane expands or contracts depending on the pressure, which allows the water flow to be regulated constantly.

Process steps

Water inlet
Pressurized water enters the dripper through an opening located below.

Membrane regulation

If the pressure increases, the membrane expands to reduce the passage of water, thus maintaining a stable flow rate of 2, 4 or 8l/h

If the pressure decreases, the membrane relaxes and allows a greater passage of water, compensating for the loss of pressure and maintaining the flow rate of the dripper.

Water outlet
The water then flows through a calibrated outlet, ensuring a uniform flow regardless of pressure variations upstream.
